BAY OF PLENTY JOCKEY CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING 1 . JOLIE FILLE WINS THE CUP. The Bay of Plenty Jockey Club held their annual fixture at Tauranga on Saturday in perfect weather and in the presence of a large attendance. The gathering was conducted in a successful manner by the. secretary, Mr. D. B. Day, who spared no effort to ensure the enjoyment of visitors. The fields were on the small side, but several close and exciting finishes resulted, the racing being of an interesting character. The totalisator staff handled £3319, as against £3389 for last year.

The Tauranga Cup produced a trio of starters, Self being installed an odds-on lavourite, but the daughter of Elf had to be content with second honours, the winner proving to be Jolie Fille, who numbers two previous Tauranga Cup victories among her achievements. Consequent upon her win in the Cup Jol.e Fille was made a strong order in the concluding event of the day, the Flying Handicap, ni which there were four-starters, but she suffered defeat at the hands, of the outsider Clume, who scored a much overdue win.
