BAY OF PLENTY JOCKEY CLUB.

We would draw attention to the programme of the- Bay of Plenty Jockey Ciub’s meeting at Tauranga on December 11. h. This meeting fills a gap in provincial rac.ng dates, and it is very easily and conveniently beaches adjoining the town offer an expuhi leaves Auckland on Thursday evening, 9th December, and remains ati Tauranga until after the races, leaving for Auckland on ■ Sa urday night. This gives owners an opportun.ty of becoming acquainted with the course, while the splendid hard beaches adjoining the town Offerman cellent exercise ground for the horses. In this connection we feel certain that when the Bay of Plenty becomes linked up w.th the main railway systems Tauranga will become a favourite training centre, providing as it does all the desirable natural requirements of an ideal training locality. The club, which this year has put an additional £5O on to the stakes, is still further catering for owners by erecting barriers, and these w.ll be in use at the forthcoming meeting. There promises to be a big contingent from the Waikato, and there is every prospect of the fine nom nations received by the club last, year being equalled, if not exceeded, this year. Mr. R. Wynyard is the club’s handicapper, and Mr. C. O’Connor starter. Messrs. Hayr and Co. will be in charge of ‘he totalisator.

So far as the public :s concerned the trip to Tauranga this year should commend itself, as the Tauranga A. and P. Show will be held on ‘he Friday preceding the races, and to meet those desirous of attending e'ther the show or the races, and also those desirous of seeing this beautiful part of the Bay of Plenty, the N.S.S. Company is running an excursion fare of 25/ return.
