THE CHERNIAVSKYS.

The announcement of the return of the Cherniavskys to Auckland after their triumphal tour through the Dominion has been taken with the greatest delight by both music lovers and the general ptblic. Wien first heard here, just six years ago, th.> Cherniavskys were bailed as wonder children whose like is only heard once in a decade. The interpretations then acclaimed by admiring audiences have since increased in musical significance. To their wonderful brilliancy of technique is allied a Slavonic temperament which makes everything they play pulsate with emotional warmth or fiery energy. The trio will give three concerts in Auckland on August 10, 12, and 14.

Mr. L. J. Lohr, the well-known ex-theatrical manager, paid a visit to Auckland last week after some fifteen years’ absence. Mr. Lohr, who has just recovered from a severe illness, arrived from Sydney by the Niagara, and intends building up his health

at Rotorua. “Daddy” Lohr, as he is’ familiarly called ,is the father of that clever London actress Marie Lohr.
