MAGDALA WINS THE CUP. The Ashburton County Racing Club’s autumn meeting was commenced on Thursday in fine weather. The track was in first-class order. There were large fields, and close finishes were the erder of the day. The totalisator investments for the day reached £11,714. as against £10,105 10s. on the corresponding day of last year. The results were:— FIRST HURDLE HANDICAP, one mile and three-quarters—Cast Iron 1, Commotion 2, Curilla 3. Scratched: Margo. Cast Iron beat Commotion by a neck, Curilla being four lengths away. Time, 3min 15 4-ssec. LONGBEACH HACK HANDICAP, six furlongs.—Marvelite 1, Bandy 2, Sir Hamilton 3. Scratched; Melfcrd. Time, Imin 27 2-ssec. MELROSE TROT HANDICAP, one mile.—Premotion 1, Sir Elmo 2, Edenchild 3. Scratched: General Link, Allen Doone, Forest Child. Won all the way by two lengths, with 12 lengths dividing the other two. Time. 2min 20sec. GROVE FARM HANDICAP, six furlongs.—Daytime 1, Medley 2, Cortes 3. Scratched: Fabiakoff, Fender, Free. Daytime led from the start, winning by a head from Medley, who outdistanced cortes by three lengths. Timo, Imin 13sec. CONCLUDING DAY. SCOTCH MELODY WINS HANDICAP. The meeting was concluded on Friday in ideal weather. The going was excellent, and there was a good attendance.
