The top pictures of WARSTEP were taken specially for the “Sporting Review” at Trentham on Saturday last prior to her brilliant victory in the Trentham Gold Cup, while the lower illustration depicts Mr. Dalgety’s champion mare returning to scale after annexing the Auckland Cup. Up to date Warstep has won £6360 in stakes, which is easily a record for the Dominion for one of her age. Her next engagement is in the Awapuni Gold Cup, ¼1 miles, run to-day (Wednesday). Her record so far for the present season is as follows, the stake money won being in parenthesis: —Unplaced D.J.C. Electric Plate, six furlongs, 9st. 21b.; dead-heat N.Z. Cup, two miles, 7st. 111 b., with Indigo, 6st. 121b., time 3min. 30 3-ssec. (£1100); second Canterbury Cup, two miles and a-quarter (£200); third G. G. Stead Memorial Cup, one mile and a-quarter (£100); won Auckland Cup, two miles, Bst. 91b., time 3min. 26 3-5sec. (£1750); Second Islington Plate, one mile, 8st. 91b. (£100); won Auckland Plate, one mile and ahalf’ 8st. 111b., time 2min. 35 2-ssec. (£500); won Dunedin Cup, one mile and a-half, 9st. 131b.
