TE AROHA JOCKEY CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Te Aroha Jockey Club will open on Saturday and it will be concluded on Monday. The acceptances are exceptionally large for the Ruakura Hurdles, Trial Handicap, Gorden Hack Handicap, Flying an.d Tourists Handicaps, and there should be good fields for these particular events, and the Te Aroha Cup, Domain Handicap and Waitoa Welter Handicap should each attract a fair number of starters. The club have just had completed very extensive improvements to their grounds foi the convenience and comfort of their patrons, and there is sure to be an unprecedentedly large attendance at the gathering from all parts of the province. The course should be in excellent condition, and in all respects the meeting bids fair to be the best in the history of the club. The Ruakura Hurdles may result in a good race between Lady Sabretache., Black Northern and Merry Dan. The Trial Handicap looks decidedly open, Blue Rose, Monodon, Flying Feather and Zulupin are amongst those that will have good followings. Christmas Rose and Lady Middleton, in the Domain Handicap, which looks open, are nicely weighted. Lady Penury and Admiral Soult may command most attention in the Te Aroha Cup. The five top weights should beat all the others in the Flying Handicap and Ihapuna may prove the smartest of them. Kauri King, Hopye, Hamlet and Nicomar may have most friends for the Gordon Hack Race, and Worcester and Glenspire read best in the Waitoa Welter. Lady Middleton, Signo and Ihapuna in the Tourists’ Handicap should be troublesome.
