OPERA HOUSE.

A HOLIDAY PROGRAMME. An exceptionally fine vaudeville bill is being presented by the BrennanFuller proprietary this week, and should tempt the holiday maker to spend an hour or two at the Opera House. The top note in thrills is struck by Hanlon, Dean and Hanlon, a trio of acrobats, who perform truly astounding feats in the balancing and supporting line. There have been several startling acrobatic turns in Auckland from time to time, but - this remarkably agile three stand, alone in their offer of sensations. They

are greeted with a hurricane of applause. Trained animals can always command a large share of attention, and this is served out in abundance to Gardiner’s bulldogs. Four intelli-gent-looking animals give an almost human turn. One is a champion jumper, another a practised acrobat, and one shows a pretty skill with a suspended punch-ball. The star of the party, hanging by his teeth, is hauled up by a pulley to the gallery, and is then made to let go while he makes a sensational slide. Miss Dorothy Harris, a charming American, made her first appearance on Monday, and was an instantaneous success with her novel ragtime exposition. McDonald and Generaux are a pair of newcomers, who score well in song and dance. Weston’s Living Models are again a delight to the eye in their artistic classic poses.

Kubelik with his quaint music, Harry Gribben in another of his clever sketches, Phillips and Meritt in fresh jokes and tango demonstration, Jolie Marie the vivacious. comedienne, and William Sumner (American singer and dancer) are included in one of the most generous offerings presented to patrons. Added to this crisp bill is. the tango competition to be held on Thursday and Friday.
