VICTORIA AMATEUR TURF CLUB’S MEETING. The V.A.T.C. meeting opened on Saturday, results of the principal events being as follows: — FEDERAL STAKES of 400sovs, for two-year-olds, five furlongs.—Raheen 1, Maharajah 2. Andesene 3. There were 16 starters. Won by three lengths, a neck separating second and third. Time, Imin 3sec. BOND CUP of 400sovs, one mile and a-half. —Effervescence 1, Lord Grey 2, Prizefighter 3. Fourteen started. Won by two lengths and a-half. Time, 2 min 36sec.
OAKLEIGH PLATE of lOOOsovs, five furlongs and a-balf. —Popinjay 1, Nuwara Eliya 2, Four Flush 3. There were 25 starters. Popinjay drew out inside the distance, and won by a length and a-quarter, third horse three-quart-ers cf a length away. Time, lmin Ssec.
ST. GEORGE STAKES of 500sovs, nine furlongs.—Jolly Beggar 1. Mountain Princess 2. Andelosia 3. Thirteen started. Won by half a length. Time, lmin 55sec.
