CANTERBURY.

(By Telegraph—Christchurch Correspondent.)

The sub-committee appointed by the New Zealand Trotting Association to go into the question of starting has not yet finished its enquiries, but will probably have a report ready for the next meeting of the association. At the last meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association the wellknown trainer, J. C. Paget, had his license withdrawn, the result of improper conduct. Canterbury-owned horses figure largely in the nomination for the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s meeting; in fact, they almost monopolise the chief events.

The Hutt Valley Trotting Club’s meeting, which takes place on the 23rd of this month, has attracted a large number of Canterbury-trained horses as well as several that competed at the last meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club.
