ACHILLES, by Medallion —Nereid, by Goldsbrough, is a beautifully proportioned chestnut horse, standing slightly over sixteen hands. He won over £9OOO in stake money, and that without being “engaged” as two or three-year-old, when he was practically invincible. He proved himself a champion in each of the six seasons he raced, retains all his courage, and he has probably the cleanest set of legs in New Zealand today. He won three Jubilee Cups, two Electric Plates, two C.J.C. Challenges, two North Island Challenges, three Jackson Stakes, the Juvenile Plate, Middle Park Plate (an exceptionally brilliant performance —Machine Gun, 2yrs, had the maiden allowance, and carried 7.2, Achilles, 3yrs, with full penalties, carried 9.10), Manawatu Stakes, Hawke’s Bay Stakes, A.R.C.
