TRAINING NOTES.

The weather was beautifully fine for training operations at Ellerslie on Tuesday, but though a large number of horses were out the work, all of which was accomplished on the sand, was very uninteresting. * * * * The Celt strode over two rounds at half pace, moving freely. * * * * Prophet, who is looking a picture, covered a circuit in 2.11 1-5. * * * -TWaimangu and Worcester were companions over a round. The pair kept together till three furlongs from home, where Waimangu drew away and won by four lengths in 2.0 2-5, the last seven furlongs taking 1.35. Both had light boys up and were ridden out. * * * * Phosphorus and Gloy, were sent over a similar journey, the first named having half a length the best of it in 2.6, but neither of the pair were ridden out.

sjt Virtue, Vic, and Irish Maid were companions over five hurdles finishing together and giving a good exhibition of jumping. >K * * * There was little to choose between Tamainupo and Blue Garment over five furlongs in 1.5 4-5. * * * Nimrod was much too good for Robert the Bruce over four furlongs 56 2-5. ... * * * ‘Davey Paul covered a circuit at three-quarter pace, moving freely. The others jumped the water, and rejoined by Slaney continued on for a circuit going, over the hill. All four jumped beautifully, and when the double was cleared —the end of the gallop —the order was, Webfoo.t, Captain Jack, Oliver Twist and Slaney., Webfoot’s performance was the most pleasing, while Slaney appeared to tire badly. . ’ ■ * * » * Okaihau (McKinnon) and Armagh (Howden),- Were also sent over a round of the big country.
