GENERAL LATOUR proved himself one of the fastest and gamest colts that has graced the New Zealand Turf. At the A.R.C. Spring Meeting he won the Great Northern Guineas. At the A.R.C. Summer Meeting he won the Christmas Handicap in record time flmin 40sec), conceding weight to aged horses. In the Great Northern Derby he made most of the running-, and was only beaten a length by Counterfeit (who is regarded as the best filly in New Zealand) in the record time of 2min 36sec. In the decision of the A.R.C. Easter Handicap he carried 8.6 into second place behind Kakama (7.6), the mile being cut out in Imin 40sec. and General Latour was only a head from the winner. Breeders will notice by General Latour’s pedigree that he has a tip-top strain of racing blood, and will be a worthy successor to his illustrious sire SOULT, the greatest sire ever imported to the colonies.
