On Saturday morning the semitinal gallops took place for the Avondale meeting. Sea Elf was paced the last four of seven furlongs (on the grass) by Laverna, running the distance in Imin 31 3-ssec. Goldsize and Ashby galloped two furlongs less in Imin 17 3-ssec. Maheno alone spurted six furlongs in Imin 16 4-ssec. ■Master Jack and Admiral Soult were companions over a circle on the tan in imin 57 sec, finishing together. The gallop was not impressive. The touts were on the alert when they saw La Reina and St. Amans out together. The pair raced round the sand in 2min 0 l-ssec. Prince King, Sphinx, and Kapane ran in this order, at their best gait, over six furlongs. Harenoa jumped off at the seven furlongs post, and skipped half a mile in 50sec. Waiowera and a mate spurted five furlongs in Imin 5 2-ssec. First Wairiki on the sand registered 51 3-ssec for half-a-mile. Rutter was in front of Zinnia running once round in Imin 53sec. Monorail had Lannacost settled at the finish of four furlongs in 51 3-5 sec, easing up. Blue Garment, who is on the improve, beat Bogey, four furlongs in 4 9 4-ssec. Bow Bells sprinted four furlongs in 51 4-ssec, a task that Lucille ran in 50 l-ssec. Fuss and Don Quex jumped the little sticks, shaping none too well. H&ku was ahead of his stable mate from the five furlongs post in imin 4 4-ssec. Crown Pearl dashed over a few furlongs at top. The favourite for the Oakley Handicap is very well. Blue Mount and Surplus had a bout over the schooling hurdles, the pair fencing well. Black .Northern, and a chestnut tackled the hurdles, but they were not to Black Northern’s liking, as he ran off the second jump. Lloyds gave a good display of jumping. Battle Abbey was no use to Tact in a run from the five furlongs post in Imin 5 3-ssec. Miss Avalanche was very slippery oyer half a mile, beating another in 49 4-ssec. Sea Pink had Monoplane w r ell dished at the end of seven furlongs, run in Imin 32 2-ssec. Matinga and Tobias hopped off at the seven furlongs post, and ran to the three furlongs mark in 50 3-ssec. Tui Cakobau and Commander tackled the steeplechase jumps. The latter gave his pilot a neat header, but fenced wlpll. Tui Cakobau also jumped well.

Monday being finej most of the teams did "their final gallops.

Lady Betty on the sand (alone) left five furlongs behind in Imin 6 l-ssec. After the breakfast interval Monoline and a pace-maker slipped over four furlongs in 53 4-ssec, not out for time making. Haku, who has improved, gave Lady Dot a good beating over half a mile on the grass in 49 3-ssec. Rutter, on the same track, spurted at top. The big gelding has never been the same since his fall at Takapuna. Prince Merriwee beat a companion easily over seven furlongs, pulling up in Imin 7 3-ssec.

MSss.' Avalanche alone scampered over four furlongs in 49 3-ssec.

Duro alone had a half-mile spin in 51sec.

Crown Pearl negotiated five furlongs on the sand in Imin 5 3-ssec.
