TURF RESULTS.

WELLINGTON RACING CLUB. FIRST DAY. THE CUP WON BY UNDECIDED. DEAREST ROBBED- OF VICTORY. The Wellington Racing Club’s Cup meeting was ushered in with a heavy shower of rain and a strong nor-’wester-ly wind, but later the sun came out and the conditions improved a good deal during the afternoon. The course was in very fair condition and the sport generally was good. The totalisators handled £22,675 10s, as against £15,452 for the first day of last year’s summer meeting. An unfortunate incident happened in the last race of the day, which was won by Dearest after a splendid race. On Deeley, the rider of Dearest, returning to scale it was discovered that he was a few ounces over weight that had not been declared, and for this the winner was robbed of victory, Nyland, the second horse, received the stake. Laius led into the straight, followed by Odessa, Turna and Blakeney. At the distance Odessa was in front, but he failed to withstand a challenge from Blakeney, who won by half a length. From a capital start, Midnight Sun took the lead, but Coromandel and Bliss soon raced alongside, and the trio passed the stand together with Merrivonia at the head ;,Qf the others, while Undecided was tailfed ? b£f last. At the end of another furlong, Midnight Sun was attended by Flingot and Birkline, with Coromandel, Merrivonia and Bliss following in that order, while Undecided commenced to improve and Aberbrothock and Kauroa were last. Up to the three-furlong post the first four horses retained their positions, and Undecided had there run into fifth place. Once in the straight Undecided came along, and won easly by two lengths ■from Midnight Sun, who was two lengths ahead of Coromandel. Full Rate lost several lengths at the start. Nyland was quickets away, but Gipsy Belle took up the running and led into the straight, being followed by Culprit and Nyland. At the half distance. Dearest got through on the rails, and '-won by three-parts of a length from Nyland, with Culprit a good third Equitas fourth, and Ireland fifth. Time, Imin 15 l-ssec. Dearest’s jockey (Deeley) weighed in with a slight overweight, and, as he had not previously declared, he was disqualified for the event, first place going to Nyland, while Culprit and Equitas were awarded second and third money lespectively. SECOND DAY. ERMENGARDE WINS STAKES. The Wellington Racing Club had a record attendance at Trentham on Monday tor the second day’s racing of them Cup meeting. The weather was fine and the course in capital condition. The sport was excellent although full of surprises and many of the favourites were oaaly beaten. The Highden colours were particularly prominent during the afternoon for they were borne to victory on three occasions. The champion three-year-old nuy, Counterfeit, added to her laurels by winning the W.R.C. Handicap in most convincing style. The totalisator figures constituted a record for Wellington. During the day £35,091 10s was put through the machines, which is an advance of £14,853 for the corresponding day last year. The field moved off in good line, with the exception of Winning Way, who was at once seen to be tailed off. Ermengarde soon took the lead, followed by Autumnus. Winning Way ran off bhe course. Ermengarde continued in the lead, and won by over four lengths frorh Autumnus, who was four lengths ahead of Glade. Peroneal was fourth, the others being strung out. Time, Imin 1 1-5 sec. The weather was fine and the track was in excellent order. The weather was perfect and ths racing of a high order, and altogether the meeting was the most successful and enjoyable in the history of the club.
