The proprietors of the “N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic’ Review” are commissioned by Messrs. D. and J. McCallum, of Perfection whisky fame, to offer a ' PRIZE OF £lO for the best article written by a New Zealand resident, of at least five years’ standing, on “THE LIQUOR QUESTION IN NEW ZEALAND,” The article to be written to prove the desirability from all points of view of a license system for New Zealand, with suggestions for the working of the system, so as to make the Trade as beneficial as possible to the community ;at large. The article to be from the point of view of the New Zealander only, and not to be a hashup of the experience of other countries under prohibition as so many articles on the subject are. Intending competitors are advised that their essays must not exceed 3000 words in length; their points should be stated clearly and intelligently, and their MSS. should be sent in not later than October 31st- The essays should be signed with a nom de plume only, the name and address of the writer with his or her nom de plume to be enclosed in a sealed envelope. All essays to be addressed to the proprietors, “N.Z. Sporting and and Dramatic Review,” Vulcan Lane, Auckland.
