OTAGO DEFEATS CANTERBURY

The annual interprovincial match between Otago and Canterbury was played at the Caledonian Ground, Dunedin,.-? on Saturday, and was won by the representatives of the former province by 8 'points to nil. The game resolved itself into a strenuous contest between the Otago forwards and the Canterbury backs, the former team, as is generally the case with a superior set of forwards, coming through the struggle triumphantly. Otago scored all of their points in the second spell, A. Paterson scoring two tries, one of which was converted by Eckhold.

WELLINGTON BEAT MARLBOROUGH.

The Wellington-Marlborough match, which was played at Blenheim on Saturday, was won by the Empire City representatives by 13 points to 3, the losers making a rather disappointing showing. Wellington played well, the backs especially displaying improved form. For Wellington tries were notched by Poole (2), and Bell, two of which were converted by Roberts. For Marlborough, O’Brien kicked a penalty goal.
