Chateau, after successfully heralding “ The Arcadians” Company through New Zealand, left by the Main Trunk Express on Tuesday evening for Wellington, where he takes up the management of another money-getter, “ The Gay Gordons.” An Echo from " The Wanderers.” Mr. Morgan, touring manager of Mr. G'eorge Stephenson’s “ Wanderers ” Company arrived in Auckland on Friday, and left- for Gisborne next day to make arrangements for a season there. After a short toui’ in the south, the Company goes over to Australia. ■ t ■ "Our Miss Gibbs.” The ■ welcome; that awaits “ Our Miss Gibbs ” in Sydney' on Thursday (writes? my Sydney 'correspondent), when the . popular Royal Comic Qpe'ra Company will return to ’Her Majesty’s for 9 nights, is foretold by the big booking demand. The Company’s success in Brisbane and Toowoomba is in keeping with the record of the musical comedy since *it was first played in Sydney a year ago. The Dominion tour will take the Royal Comics up to Xmas- This will mean that the members''of the Company have been playing the same parts continuously for sixteen months. “ The Gay Gordons.” The Highland girls are a pleasant feature of “‘■The Gay Gordons” which opens in Wellington on September 15, under the Clarke and Meynell management. In London they were called “ the gun girls.” An English visitor who saw- the production in Australia, wrote to the’ firm complimenting thiem upon the fine performance of the Seymour Hick’s play and added: —“ I think yoiir gun’girls are some of the prettiest I have ever seen on the stage or off.- ' It seems to me that the prettiest 'Australian girls, are on the stage and ?'The Gay Gordons” seems 'to have captured some pt th,e best. FWLLERISA& ENTERPRISE, NEW THEATRE' IN .NEWTON. With the. object ■'of building a new theatre in Newton to house their vaudeville entertainments, Messrs. John Fuller and Sons have acquired two sections of land adjoining the new Masonic Hall now in course' of erection in Upper Queen-street. The site has a frontage of 85ft. to Upper Queen-street by a depth of 180 ft. The new theatre, which will be of the twotier order, will he built upon the most approved modern designs. The rapid growth of Auckland has led Messrs. Fuller to believe that the near future will call for additional attractions, while the number of bookings they have had to refuse for the Opera, House has accentuated it. One has only to visit the King's Theatre, in Upper Pitt-street, to see what a want that building has supplied. ANDREW’S HALL. HUMOROUS AND DRAMATIC RECITAL. Messrs. Alan McElwain and Laurie Abrahams will give their fourth humorous and dramatic recital at St. Andrew’s Hall, Symonds-street, on Thursday evening, September 7 th, when they will submit one of their popular programmes entitled a pot pourri of song, monologue and story. Amongst some of the new items is a new “dame” sketch by Mr. Alan McElwain and an original musical monologue’ “Pierrot’s Prayer” by Mr. Alan McElwain. These two entertainers will be., assisted by Miss Zoe Bartley in a selection of dainty songs at the piano and Mr. Olivei’ E. Farrow, the popular baritone. To those in search of a crisp and refreshing entertainment this recital should certainly commend itself. The box plan is on view at Wildman and Arey’s and day sales at Gerti Campion’s.
