NORTHERN UNION NOTES.
The match between City and Newton at Victoria Park resulted in a victory for the former thirteen by 32 points to 12. For the winners tries were notched by Wilson, Asher, Denize (2), Childs, Mitchell, Phillips and Warner, four of which were converted by Asher. For Newton tries were obtained by Marshall and Farrant, one of which was converted by Farrant, while Bennett kicked a penalty goal and a field goal. Mr. R. Oliphant was referee. * * * * At Avondale, Ponsonby met and easily defeated Eden by 24 points to nil. Tries were secured for Ponsonby by Houghton, Dillamore (3), Carlaw and Bettis, while two of the tries were converted by Houghton and one each by Cole and Carlaw. • * * * The Northern Union game between Huntly juniors and Ngaruawahia. which was played at Huntly, ended in a victory for the former team by 12 points to nil.
