TARANAKI PLUMPTON MEETING.

The weather was fine for the first day of the Taranaki Plumpton Coursing Club’s meeting. There was a good attendance of the public. The haies were in good condition, but unfortunately had not been trained, with the result that several, after getting into the baulk, did not succeed in reaching cover, and were headed to field again by the dogs. The result proved disastrous to the club, as at the end of the day, when the last hare had been killed, three dogs still ie mained in. In consequence only the ‘ the Maiden Stakes were decided, and the Coronation event had to be postponed. The second day of the meeting had also to be abandoned. Results are as follows: — Maiden Stakes: First round —E. P. Symes’s Swift Spotty beat J. Hamilton’s Miss Fullerton; A. McGiven’s Pluto beat F. Rhodes’s Victoria; W. Wills’s Madam Butterfly beat A. A. McGiven’s Joker; F. Rhodes’s Nightshade beat A. Rees’s Prettj r Maid; F. Head’s Tip beat J. Caldwill’s Royal Plush; J. Mours’s Glen Ossipoff beat J. Bradford’s Aurora; Hikaka’s Zinnia beat J. Caldwill’s Simplex; A. Lashbrook’s Twilight beat J. Smith’s Chain Lightning: G. H. Gibbins’s Mason beat R. Davidson’s Polar Star; J. Hannen’s Full Sail beat F. Nichol’s Soultiform; A. Wallace’s Silk Blouse beat J. Hamilton’s Miss Bell; J. Gun’s Sylvia beat R. C. Gardiner’s Hesperi; A. Stockman’s Lady Medallist ran a bye. Second round —Swift Spotty beat Pluto; Nightshade beat Madam Butterfly; Glen Ossipoff beat Tip; Twilight beat Zinnia; Full Sail beat Mason; Silk Blouse beat Lady Medallist; Sylvia ran a bye with War Cry. "'v> : rd round —Nightshade beat Swift Spotty; Twilight beat Glen Ossipoff; Sylvia beat Full Sail. Fourth round —-Sylvia beat Silk Blouse. As the last hare had been killed it was decided that Nightshade, Twilight, and Sylvia divide the stakes.

The running of Delegate in the Remuera Hurdles on Monday, suggested that had he not been badly left in the Great Northern, he may have been hard to beat. In the Remuera he v. as always with the first division and at the finish easily disposed of Appin. * * * * Of the eleven starters in the Great Northern Steeplechase, Corozon, Antarctic, Le Beau and Loch Fyne were the only ones to finish. * ft * * That Mark Ryan is the only horseman who can handle Sea Elf properly I have always contended and her victory with him in the saddle in the Cornwall Handicap bears this out.
