LICENSING COMMITTEES.

THE ANNUAL MEETINGS. WAITE MATA. The annual meeting of the Licensing . Committee for the Waitemata district was held at Devonport on Friday. Mr E. C. Cutten, S.M., presided, and there were also present: Messrs. J. C. Macky, J. Edson, G. E. White, R. .H Duder, and A. Alison. A transfer of the license of the Masonic Hotel, Devonport, from Henry Watts to Romeo Alexander Bragato, was granted, and the latter was granted a publican’s license. The licenses of hotels in the district were renewed. aB follows: — William John Bray, Esplanade Hotel, Devonport; Charlie Beaumont, Cave Hot Springs Hotel, Waiwera; Alexander Stevenson, Lucaxf Creek Hotel, Albany; Audus Raynes, Mon Desir Hotel, Takapuna; Daniel Holland, Nortlicote Hotel; James Titford, Puhoi Hotel; Thomas William Deacon, Riverhead; Joseph Scholium, Wade Hotel; James N. Griffin, White Horse Hotel, Kumeu North; and William Hood Gaw, Warkworth Hotel. With the exception of the Esplanade, Warkworth,' and Hot Springs hotels, permission to extinguish the hotel lights at 10 p.m. was granted in each case. PARNELL. At the annual meeting of the Licen-

Sub-Inspector Hendrey appeared for the police. The police reports on the various licensed houses in the district contained no complaints regarding the manner in which the hotels had been conducted. In the case of the Panmure Hotel, the police reported that some repairs and renovations were required, and the committee decided to meet on June 8 and inspect the premises. In the meantime consideration of the applications of Louis Armitage and Robert Mudds for the license of the house was deferred. The following transfers of licenses were granted:—Peter Farquhar to Daniel Thomas Dunne, Royal George Hotel, Newmarket; Louis Armitage to Robert Nudds, Panmure Hotel, Panmure. Publicans licenses were granted to Frank Burns. Ellerslie Hotel,, Ellerslie, and to Daniel Thomas Dunne, Royal George Hotel, Newmarket. The following licenses were renewed: Herbert P. Littlewood, Alexandra Hotel, Parnell; Edward Blair, Carlton Hotel, Newmarket; Mary Syms, Captain Cook Hotel, Newmarket; Frederick Tomlinson, Exchange Hotel, Parnell; Edward Y. The annual meeting of the Waikato Licensing Committee was held in Hamilton on Monday, when there were present:—Messrs. F. O’B. Loughnan (chairman)), A. Bell, G. Edgecumbe, and E. C. Shepherd. Mr Clendon represented the Campbell-Ehrenfried Company and Hancock and Company, while Mr Porritt was in attendance on behalf of Messrs. On the application for the renewal of the license for the Star Hotel, the police reported that the place was well managed, with the exception of the public bar, which was badly conducted, and required more strict supervision. Mr. Whitaker (for the licensee) stated that the public bar was away from the house to some extent.
