CRICKET.

The seventh round of the Auckland Cricket Association’s district championships was concluded on Saturday in perfect weather, and the wicket being good, some high scores were registered during the afternoon. D. Hay, the Grafton batsman, scored 99 not out in the match against University, Pearson (Ponsonby) made 62, F. .Airey (University) put together 54, and F. A. Taylor (University) 53, Olliff (Parnell), was the most successful of the bowlers, taking eight wickets in the match against North Shore for 56 runs. The match between North Shore and Parnell was concluded at the Domain, and resulted in a two-point win for the latter team, the Parnell batsmen being in excellent form. The University-Grafton match was also decided at the Domain, the students placing a two-point win to their credit. The Ponsonby eleven met the Eden team at Eden Park and succeeded in securing a two-point victory. The result of the seventh round leaves the North Shore eleven well in the lead for the championship, Saturday being the first occasion on which they have tasted defeat this season. FIRST GRADE. North Shore v. Parnell.—On the first day’s play North Shore made a total of 160 runs in their first innings. while Parnell’s score stood at 121 runs for four wickets. Continuing their first innings on Saturday the Parnell eleven, (batting one man short), brought their total up to 204 runs, (A. Andreae 23, A. Jones 19, A. Wright 30, A. Anthonv 28, C. Olliff 17, E. V. Sale 48, A. Fairburn 11). For North Shore, Hadden took one wicket for 61, Howden two for 45, McNeill four for 53, and Bush one for 35. North Shore then opened their second innings, but with the exception of Hadden, the batsmen were below form, and their- total only amounted to 124 runs, (W. Spence 17, C. Farquharson 11, J. A. Kallender 11, A. Hadden 45 not out). For Parnell, Olliff took eight wickets for 56 runs, and Warner two for 31. Parnell thus won by 44 runs on the first innings—a two-point win. Grafton v. University.—Grafton’s total for first innings, stood at 205 runs for the first day’s play while University had 33 runs on the board for the loss of two wickets. University showed considerable improvement in their batting on going to the wickets on Saturday, and altogether made 211 runs (H. F. Dettman 28, F. A. Airey 54, F. A. Taylor 53, W. H. Graham 16, A. W. Short 22, H. Fenwick 12 not out). For Grafton, Shacklock took two wickets for 56 runs, Harvie three for 42, Mason one for 29, Neill three for 49 and Pullen one for 12. G'rafton then made a start with their second innings and had the splendid total of 208 runs for one wicket on the board when time was called, (F. R. Mason 40, D. Hill 99 not out, R. Sloman 48 not out). University thus won an interesting match by six runs—a two-point victory. Eden v. Ponsonby.—The first day’s play saw Eden with 191 runs to their credit in the first innings, while Ponsonby had made 3 runs for no wickets. Continuing their first innings on Saturday, the Ponsonby men increased their total to 199 runs, (Collins 27, 12, Pearson 62, Woods 23, Wilson 26, Kavanagh 17). For Eden Brooke-Smith took six wickets for 70 runs, Cummings one for 21, Mills one for 24, and Taylor one for 37. In their second innings Eden made 50 runs for no wickets, (G. Mills 33 not out, F. Ward 16 not out). Ponsonby thus won by 8 runs on the first innings—a two-point win. SECOND GRADE. Parnell v. Grafton. —Parnell, first innings 238. Grafton, first innings, 96 (Harvey 25, P. Horspool 20, J. Lepine 12 not out). For Parnell, R. Doble took five wickets for 35 runs, D. Dufaur one'for 11 and R. Barnsdale four for 44. Grafton, second innings, 95, (J. Lepine 11, W. Horspool 18, Campbell 15, P. Horspool 23). For Parnell, R. Doble took three wickets for 31 runs, D. Dufaur one for 17, C. Resteaux three for 13, and L. G. Robinson one for 10. Parnell won by an innings and 47 runs — a three-point win. Eden A v. Waitemata, - Eden, first innings, 73; second innings, 223 for eight wickets—innings declared closed—(A. O. Horspool 59, G. Alexander 11, R. Gilmore 34, M. Gray 28, F. Punch 31 not out, W. Heney 14, W. Liversidge 17 not cut). For Waitemata, Arblastertook four wickets for 74 runs, K. Moller two for 4 6, McKay

one for 18 and C. Moller one for 69. Waitemata, first innings, 155; second innings, 145 for one wicket, (C. Arblaster 44, C. Moller 78 not out, E. McKay 17 not out). Waitemata won by nine wickets —a three-point win. University v. Eden B.— University, first innings, 196; second innings, (two men short), 61, (Goulding 18, Vickerman 13). For Eden, Hobson took five wickets for 29 runs, and Robinson three for 12. Eden B, first innings, 158, (Brown 16, I. Mills 42, Robinson 51, Hobson 13). For University, Walker took two wickets for 48 runs, Goulding one for 35, Fisher two for 36, and Marsack three for 20. Eden B, second innings, 75, (I. Mills 42,). For University, Walker took five wickets for 22 runs, and Fisher one for 22. . University registered a three-point win. Ponsonby v. North Shore.—Ponsonby, first innings, 215, (Blaikie 10, Cary 68, Snedden 11, Comber 38, Cheshire 22, Cullamore 20 not out); second innings, 11 for no wickets. For Grafton, Brierly took two wickets for 12 runs, Rutherford four for 18, Yates one for 11. Grafton, first innings, 285 for three wickets — innings declared closed—(P. Lepine 153, O’Shea 34, Yates 37, Foreman 34, Rutherford 12 not out). For North Shore, Little took two wickets for 38 runs, and Fleming one for 52. Grafton won by an innings and 8 runs —a three-point win. SECTION B. Eden v. Parnell. —Owing to Eden defaulting on Saturday, Parnell secured a three-point win by an innings and 92 runs. Ponsonby v. Grafton. —Ponsonby, first innings, 55; second innings 100, (R. England 36, M. England 14, McElwain 10). For Grafton, Steadman took four wickets for 32 runs, Hays four for 26, and Dean nine for 25. Grafton, first innings, 112; second innings, 51 for four wickets, (Hays 19, Cullerne 14 not out). For Ponsonby, R. England took three wickets for 23 runs, and M. England one for 14. Grafton won by six wickets —a three-point win.
