“Charlie” Cress, the well-known horseman, joined the ranks of Benedicts yesterday afternoon, the bride being Miss Hilda Wright, daughter of the late Mr. George Wright. The wedding took place at Christ’s Church, Ellerslie, and attracted a very large gathering, the young couple being exceedingly popular. To mark the happy event an enjoyable function was held in the Parish Hall last evening, when felicitous speeches were made and toasts drunk in time honoured style, Mr. and Mrs. Cress leave to-day by steamer for the South, and will attend the Grand National meeting at Christchurch.

Master Soult, in charge of the trainer, D. Monaghan, will be shipped to Sydney on Monday next. If able to reproduce his best form the son of Soult—Lady Hester should certainly annex some of the big prizes offered by the A.J.C. in the spring.
