PONSONBY CRUISING CLUB. The Ponsonby Cruising Club held their final race of the season on Saturday, the event being sailed in a heavy sea. The scratch boat, Ronaki, covered the course in the fastest time, 5h 6m 465, but on corrected time the Echo (14min handicap) was first, her time for the course being 5h 8m 20s. Ranee (lOmin), finishing time 5h Bm, was second and Alva (smin.) 5h 10m, third.

The club also held a launch race which attracted half-a-dozen starters. As a result of her victory the Manola wins the handicap cup. Edith was second three minutes later, . while Heather was third. The motor launch race was won by Mildura 11., which finished a minute before the Huia with Ngaru third. * * * * The “Paramatta Hundred,” which is to be rowed in Sydney on April 30 and May 7, is attracting considerable attention in aquatic circles in view of the fact that the names of Dick and Jack Arnst figure among the entrants in this important Australian event. Altogether 29 entries have been received, the names being as follows: —Richard Arnst (N.Z.), Jack Arnst (N.Z.), Harry Pearce, W. Fogwell, George Day, E. C. Laycock, Norman Towns, Theo. Towns, Syd. Kemp, George Matterson, F. Matterson, Chas. Matterson, Tom Kemp, Peter Kemp, junr., Richard Green, junrr, : Alf. Felton, V. E. Simpson, W. Fisher, G. T. Witchard, J. Ellis, F. Delpfski, J. Backhouse, N. Zietsch, Arthur Straney, C. Walters, C. Smith and R. Donnelly. * * * * Mr. L. Davies’ fine 30-40 h.p. launch Fairbanks, holder of the title, had no difficulty in winning the championship of New South Wales on April 9, in a race over a Sydney Harbour course of 22 miles. The only other starter was Knoxpotz. » * The Otahuhu Sailing Club held the fourth race of the season on Saturday, when two new boats made their first appearance in an event sailed by the Club. Aoma (scr.) was the first boat to finish, next to which came Shamrock (18min.), with Wave (20 min.) and Sweet Nell (lOmin.) finishing in that order.
