TRAINING NOTES.

ELLERSLIE. 6ATORDAY. * A beautiful morning greeted trainers on Saturday, and the course proper being thrown open, some interesting work was accomplished. Three trestles were left up, so that the horses galloped well towards the outside of the course. McManemin’s pair, Maheno and the two-year-old Apelion, rattled off six longs in 1.19 from a standing start, the Easter Handicap candidate having most to say at the finish. The two-year-olds Hamadryad and Veitalia came next, the pair covering the same distance in 1.20 3-ss. Moraghan’s pair, Antoinette and Master Jack scampered over half a mile in 51 4-5. the filly going the better of the pair at the end.Fuss was of little use to Tamainupo over seven furlongs in 1.35 2-5, which time coiild have been bettered. Madam Soult and Hawn covered the same distance on the sand in 1.34, the mare moving best. Dunborve. looking well, ran a mile, the last seven furlongs in 1.36 2-ss. Scotty was not asked to do his best to cover a circuit on the tan in 2.2 3-5. Epsom Lass, who is on the. improve, was responsible for a taking gallop, by defeating Advocate and Haldane over seven furlongs in 1.33 3-5. Haldane finished last. The gallop of the morning was registered by Ngapuka,. who defeated Waiari over seven furlongs in 1.32 3-5. The pair were assisted by Tattoo, and the gallop was a good one. Sir Artegal did not loaf while running half a mile, and reached the judge’s box in Bls. Patricia easily settled Duma over the same ground in 53 1-5. Tarina, who returned from the South last week, was sprinted half a mile, the distance occupying 545. Doughboy, who is looking well, left six furlongs behind in 1.22. The pony Peggy Pryde scampered over three furlongs in 41. Wenonah had too much pace for His Highness over five furlongs In 1.8. Miss Advance, taking her time, covered seven furlongs in 1.41. Freevata covered the same ground in 1.35 4-5.

Regain, who looks a certainty to pick up a stake at the meeting, started at the new mile post, and, finishing strongly, left the distance behind in 1.49. Captain Soult and Matarere were companions over six furlongs in 1.23 4-5. Absolum’s pair, Santa Rosa and Waimangu, put up an attractive gallop over nine furlongs, the pair, ridden out, finishing together in 2.0 3-5. Lucille spurted half a mile in 545. Hoanga, the hurdler, got round on the sand in 2.5 4-5.

Maiora had altogether too much pace for Aristos and Miss Ada in a gallop over six furlongs in 1.19. After bolting from the half-mile post, Poitiers was brought back and sent with Solus and Echo, the Salvadan colt winning in 53 3-5. Penwarden, assisted by Golden Light, did 2-5 of a second better than the last trio. Haku, alone, left five furlongs behind in 1.7 2-5.

Pleiades was running all over Cavaliero at the finish of a circuit on the tan in 2.5 1-5; The half-brother to Haydn is galloping well at present. Sea Elf was going well at the end of six furlongs in 1.21 4-5. Lady Patricia carried too many guns for Celtic while doing a circle in 2.5. Lady Frances appeared to be tiring at the end of seven furlongs, the last six of wihich took 1.22.

Hauraki sprinted half a mile in 54 2-ss. Prophet, looking well, covered a couple of circuits on the tan. Advocate turned the tables on Epsom Lass over seven furlongs in 1.33 4-5. Hamadryad beat Veitalia home over six furlongs in 1.23. On the tan Admiral Soult ran five furlongs in 1.8. Miss Advance covered a cicruit in 2.9. Freevata, in company with Flatfish, ran six furlongs in 1.22 2-5. Coromandel just beat Blue Garment over the same ground in 1.21 4-5. Waiari, Maxwell and Tattoo finished as written over seven furlongs in 1.32. All’s Well beat Duma over six furlongs in 1.21 2-5. Tarina, alone, did five furlongs in 1.8. Lady Ferris beat Penfold over five furlongs in 1.11 2-5. Madam Soult was finishing stronger than Wild West at the end of six furlongs in 1.20 1-5. Dazzling had more to say than Goldfinder at the end of five furlongs in 1.8. Doughboy made a hack of Patricia over six furlongs, in 1.20. 3-5. Penwarden had Kilsyth well beaten over six furlongs in 1.20 4-5. Lady Betty covered half a mile in 535, having the best of Lucille. First Wairikl ran seven furlongs, the last six taking 1.20. Waimangu beat Santa Rosa a neck over seven furlongs in 1.33 2-5. Miss Ada was too good for Watchchain over four furlongs in 53 1-5. Solus and Captain Soult beat Matarere over six furlongs in 1.22 4-5. Zinnia held Lochbuie safe over six furlongs in 1.22. Haku defeated Sea Elf the same distance in 1.21 4-5. Kakama was always in front of Pairawaatu over five furlongs in 1.9. Calm ran six furlongs in 1.25, and afterwards jumped a few hurdles. Portiers ran away from Echo over half a mile in 51 3-5. Hyperion, alone, got to the end of five furlongs in 1.7. Flying Cloud swung round the track in 2.7 1-5. Maiora had Aristos scratching at the end of six furlongs in 1.19 3-5. There was very little to choose between Celtic and Pukenui over a round of the small sticks. Lady Frances skipped over five furlongs in 1.7. Shrapnel and Lady Patricia accomplished a good schooling gallop, with very little to choose between the pair. Reservoir and Wellcast gave a good display while doing a circuit, the formerr jumping lest and finishing in front. First Barrel, Cavaliero, Pleiades, Cuiragno and Te Arai went over the big country, finishins- as written. Te Aral got rid of his rider at the water at the end of the gallon. Muskewai, Au 7 dearn, Doggerbank and others performed useful tasks.
