TRAINING NOTES.

ELLERSLIE. TUESDAY. On Tuesday morning the work was not so fast as one would expect, but nevertheless some good exercise was accomplished. Unless otherwise stated, the work given below was registered on the grass. Tamainupo and Fuss set the ball rolling, the pair running a round in 1.58 2-5, the Easter Handicap candidate having matters pretty well all his own way. Advocate, Haldane and Epsom Lass together ran six furlongs in 1.17 3-5, the latter having most to say at the finish. Waiari and Dawn, in T. Williams’ stable, were together at the end of six furlongs on the sand in 1.20, but were not asked to do their best. Macmanemin’s pair of two-year* olds, Apellon and Wenonah, ran four furlongs in 51 3-55., the first-named appearing to have a bit the best of the argument. Ngapuka and Maheno, assisted over the last six furlongs by Tattoo, were companions over seven furlongs, which they covered in 1.31 2-5. The mare seemed to be going best at the end, and is very well just now. Dunborve, who is one of the favourites for the Brighton Hurdles, moved pleasingly over a circuit in 1.56 2-5. The recent arrival, Flying Cloud, took 1.58 2-5 to cover the circuit.

W. Gall’s pair, Coromandel and Blue Garment, ran five furlongs in 1.5 4-5, the Easter horse having the best of the go.

The same distance was negotiated by Antoinette and Master Theory in 1.6 2-5. Three two-year-olds, Hamadryad, Veitalia and Duma were companions' over six furlongs, which Hamadryad, who finished in front, covered in 1.18 4-5. Sir Artegal, alone, ran naif a mile in 525, moving well. Madam Soult, who is on the improve, covered four furlongs in .53 3-5. Patricia, who let her backers down badly at the Thames, was no use to Rauparaha over seven furlongs, which the latter covered in 1.34 2-5. Penwarden easily settled the pretentions of Rarata and Etonian over five furlongs in 1.5 2-5. Doughboy, who has quietened down, left three-quarters of a mile behind in 1.19 4-5. Admiral Soult moved nicely over half a mile in 525., and finished well. Wild West registered a taking gallop when he left six furlongs behind him in 1.17 2-5, and the little black is evidently very well. Maiora took 1.19 3-5 to cover threequarters of a mile. The hurdler Prophet hit out very freely over a circuit in 1.55. Absolum’s pair of blacks, Waimangu and Santa Rosa, were sent a mile, the former finishing in front in 1.46 4-5. Lucille sprinted five furlongs in 1.5 2-5. Matarere was sent a similar journey to Lucille, taking a second longer. The two-year-olds, Solus and Princess Soult, were on terms at the end of six furlongs, occupying 1.21. The unlucky Sea Elf, with Haku, ran five furlongs in 1.7, but were not out to establish records. The hurdlers Lady Patricia and Leo were companions over a circuit in 1.54 4-5, the former going best. Poiters beat Echo over half a mile in 51 2-ss. Kakama had too much pace for Pairawaatu over five furlongs in 1.5 4-5. Lady Frances occupied 1.19 2-5 over six furlongs. Lochbuie showed to more advantage than Aristocrat over six furlongs in 1.20 2-5. Miss Ada proved too good for Siola. at the finish of five furlongs in 1.6 2-5. Shrapnel and Zinnia were too good for Celtic over a circuit in 1.53. A number of others were out doing useful exercise.
