LATE RACING.

OTAHUHU TROTTING CLUB’S SPREKTG MEETING. FIRST DAY. The Spring Meeting of the Otahuh Trotting Club was opened at Alexandra Park yesterday in delightful weather, and in the presence of a large attendance. The following were the results: — TRIAL TROT HAiNiDICAP of 25 sovs.; second horse to receive 5 sovs. from the stake. One mile. 2— J. Lynch’s b f Vibroma, 3 yrs, by Young McKinley—Cora Victor, 10s. (Paul) 1 I—w.1 —w. Lynch’s Madam Melba, aged, scratch (Crotty) 2 3— T. M. Wade’s Wild Marie, aged, ss. (Wade) 3 Also started: 7 Wahwahtasee 35., 8 Pathfinder 35., 9 Maggie Car 35., 6 Harry Mace 55., 4 Lady Wilhelmina 65., 7 Dido 65., 5 Special Diamond 65., 7 Diamond Bell 65., 9 Specimen Stone 6s. Vibroma, on the limit, soon established a long lead, and when she passed the stand the first time had about 100 yards lead from Diamond Bell, who was just in advance of Madam Melba. Vibroma increased her advantage running out of the straight, and she was never troubled, and simply walked in by a dozen lengths from Madam Melba, who was half a furlong in front of Wild Marie. Harry Mace was fourth, and Maggie Car and Wahwahtasee a couple of furlongs away last. Time, 2min. 40 4-ssec. MANGERE 1 TROT of 45 sovs.; second horse to receive 5 sovs out of the stake. The field had only gone half a furlong when Floranz went to the head of affairs, and from this out the issue was never in doubt, and the daughter of Franz won pulling up by about 100 yards from Good Friday, who was about 40 yards in front of Bell Briar.

From a grand start the colours of Mighty Atom were the first to show out, followed by Miss Stella and Nora Soult in that order. So they ran along the back andi through the dip. Mighty Atom was the first to turn for home, but at the distance Nora Soult on the outside, and Carmania against the rails, threw out challenges, and an exciting finsh saw Nora Soult win by a head from Mighty Atom, who was only a head in front of the fast finishing Carmania. Miss Stella was fourth. Time. 55 4-ssec.

SUBURBAN TROT HANDICAP of 65 sovs; second horse to receive lOsovs, and third ssovs out of the stake. Two miles.

Rita W. was quickly out in front, and with Bert as his nearest attendant she led over the first two circuits. Entering upon the final round John Harold and Scotia set out after the leader, who was tiring fast, and a furlong from home they were close up. About 50 yards from the post Rita W. broke, and appeared to block John Harold, but, getting down again quickly, Rita W. won by half a length, with Scotia a neck away third. Albert H. was fourth. Time, 4m. 225.

LADIES’ BRACELET HANDICAP, for trophy valued at Bssovs; second, trophy valued at ssovs. One mile and a-quar-ter.

Bell Briar and Lady Specialist were the quickest to get under way, but at the end of half a mile the two scratch horses, V.S. and Royal Victor, had charge, and they soon left the field behind. V.S'. had a lead of about 10 lengths going along the back, and trotting in good style the black gelding had no difficulty in winning by half-a-dozen lengths from Royal Victor, with Lady Park third and Day Dawn fourth. Time, 3m. 9s.

ONEHUN'GA TROT HANDICAP of 50 sovs; second horse to receive lOsovs from the stake. One mile and a-half. 1— C. F. Giesen’s ch g Receiver, aged, by Kentucky—Nellie Case, 18s. (Crotty) 1 2— C. There is not much to say about this race. Receiver, who was a red-hot favourite, went to the front soon after the start, and was allowed to win by six lengths from Cavalier, with Maplewood third and Lady Lylian fourth. Time, 3m. 565.

Albert Edward carried on the running well clear of Haldane, and this pair had the race to themselves. Albert Edward led to the distance, where Haldane ranged alongside, and Albert Edward breaking, Haldane won by about four lengths. Black Diamond was a long way back third, and the rest nowhere. Time, 3m. 56 l-ss. ELECTRIC TROT HANDICAP of 45sovs; second horse to receive ssovs from the stake. One mile. 2— S. Galbraith’s b g Ballot, aged, by Electioneer, Hs (Gladding) 1 3— H. A. Bell Gray and Irish Molly led past the stand, and this pair ran locked together out of the straight and along the back, but just before entering the dip Ballot took up the running, and, closely followed by the pair mentioned, he showed the way into the straight. A most exciting race to the judge’s box ensued, Ballot lasting long enough to win by half a head from Bell Gray, with Irish Molly only a length away third. Time, 2m. 35 4-ss.
