WANGANUI TROTTING CLUB’S MEETING.

In another part of this issue will be found published in full the programme for the Wanganui Trotting Club’s meeting, which is to take place on Thursday and Saturday, December 16 and 18. For a young club the programme is a splendid one, and a glance thereat shows each and every event to have a substantial sum in prize money attached. Distributed over the 14 events is the sum of £5OO, of which SOsovs is attached to the Wanganui Cup, and next in importnace is the Tradesmen’s Handicap (second day) of 60sovs, both being run over a two-mile course. The other events on the programme are:— Maiden Handicap of 25sovs, one mile; Kirkwood Handicap of 25sovs, one mile and a-half; Hammond Handicap of 35sovs, one mile; Castlecliff Handiacp of 30sovs, one mile and ahalf; President’s Handicap of 40 sovs, one mile and a-half; Dash Handicap of 35sovs, one mile. On the second day there will be the Trial Trot of 25sovs, one mile; Aramoho Handicap of 25 sovs, one mile and a-half; Tramway Handicap of 30sovs, one mile; Eastbrook Handicap of 30sovs, one mile and a-half; Ballance Stakes of 35sovs, one mile and a-half; and Farewell Handicap of 25sovs, one mile. All races are optional- Nominations for all events close with the secretary (Mr. Selby Morton) on Saturday next, November 20, at 9 p.m. Full particulars are given in the advertisement.

Although weighted at 6.13 Corojjnandeil carried 51b. overweight in the Ascot Handicap, at Ellerslie when he suffered defeat by a neck. His impost at Devonport 7.8 is only 41b. more and it is generally admitted that he had bad luck to lose the Ascot.
