The following are the full accounts of the two events: — THE SPRING STAKES. Weight for age, with penalties and allowances. One mile. Mr. J. E. O’Brien’s Malt King, 3 yrs, by Malster—Patrona, 7.12 and 71b. penalty (Pike) 1 Mr. D. U. Seaton’s Lady Ruenalf, 5 yrs, 7.12, Including 141 b. allowance (Brennan) 2 Mr. J. C. When the word was given Blue Book and Kyeadgerie, wiho were on the inside, got first away, with Lady Ruenalf and Hyman next. At the end of a furlong Provocation went to the front from an outside berth, and led to the six-furlong post, with Blue Book, Sunny South, and Diplomatist handy. Soon after Diplomatist and Sunny South ran to the head of affairs, and at the half mile led by two lengths from Provocation and Nadir, who had Malt King, Hyman, and Blue Book for nearest attendants. They went in that way to the three-furlong post, where Provocation again went past the leaders, and was first to make the home turn and land in the straight, but Nadir, Sunny South and Malt King were handy, and then came Hyman and Blue Book. In an instant Sunny South joined Provocation, but almost immediately Malt King, on the outside, joined issue, and bottling the leaders off in a few strides he went away and won by three lengths from the fast finishing Lady Ruenalf, who beat Blue Book by four lengths for second place. Provocation and Kyeadgerie were only a head away. Time, lmin. 40%sec. CAMELLIA STAKES. Seven furlongs. Mr. W. E. White’s Golden Slipper, 4 yrs, by Multiform—Aura, 8.0 (Hickey) 1 Mr. E. J. Tumut 8.10, War Star 8.10 (fell), Lady Wilde 8.4, Maltose 8.2 (fell), Mere! 7.9, Lord Wallace 7.9, Bright Steel 7.9, Lady San 7.4, Britain 7.0, Sunlike 6.7, Wallace Queen 6.7, Banquo 6.7 (fell), Ballantrae 6.7. The first to move were Golden Slipper and Maltose, while Lord Wallace was last, but at the end of a furlong Rose Ailie, Golden Slipper, Nuwara Eliya, and Maltose were leading in that order, while Merei and Lord Wallace were a long way in the rear. At the five-furlong post Rose Ailie shot clear, and passing the half-mile led by two lengths from Maltose, who was a length from Golden Slipper and Nuwara Eliya, while Lady San was at the head of the others. At the three-furlong post, however, Maltose fell, and over him went War Star and Banquo. That left Rose Ailie' with four lengths’ lead of Golden Slipper, and so they turnf ed into the straight, four lengths from Sunlike, Nuwara Eliya and Ballantrae. When well in line for home Rose Ailie looked all over a winner, but Golden Slipper set sail before reaching the St. Leger stand, and, catching the leader at the half-distance drew away and won nicely by her own length.
