MARLBOROUGH R.C. MEETING.

FIRST DAY. The Marlborough Racing Club’s Autumn Meeting was opened at Blenheim on Wednesday in fine weather and before a good attendance. The going was splendid, and the totalisator handled £4274, as against £4033 for the corresponding day last year. The results were:— AUTUMN HURDLES.—Diplomatic 1, Scenery 2, Lerida 3. Also started: Playmate, Burton. Time, 2m. 535. Won easily. MAIDEN HANDICAP. —Twinkle 1, Waiata 2, Over Rate 3. Also started: Tphatus, Emma, Lady Paul, Campaign, Recollection, Bravery, Benlin. Twinkle got well away, and won by a length. Time, Im. 4 l-ss. MARLBOROUGH CUP.—Maiora 1, Silken Rein 2, Osiris 3. Also started: Merrie Rose, Lawn Rose, Matarj, Gaelic, Daisy Paul. A good race. Won by a neck. Time, 2m. 11s. OPAWA WELTER HANDICAP.— Gold Bird 1, Aotea 2. Flint Gun- 3. Also started: King Post, Sister, Quarry Gir], Oblivion. Quarry Girl was left at the post. A good race.
