WANGANUI.
WANGANUI April 7Tonderghie twisted his foot the other morning after doing a good gallop, and will have to be spelled for a lew months. Excellent progress has been made with the work of forming the new racing track at Bulls, and the erection of the grandstand, loose boxes, etc. The grass is now coming away splendidly on the track, which looks very well indeed. The grandstand is being erected on the site of the new lawn, which, being situated on an elevation, will afford spectators a splendid view of the whole course. With anything like favourable weather conditions it is anticipated that everything will be in readiness for the club’s next spring meeting. The acceptances received for the Feilding Jockey Club’s Easter meeting are very satisfactory, and there is every prospect of a most enjoyable day’s racing being provided for patrons of this popular fixture. There are thirteen left in the Mangaone Stakes of six furlongs, Crucinella (8.11) being at the head of the list, with Longner (8.5) next. Amongst the others engaged is Perolina (7.12), who showed such good form at New Plymouth recently. Eleven have been paid up for in the Cup, in which Tangimoana (9.0) holds pride of place, Paione (6-7) being one of the bottom weights. The latter filly finished well in the mile and a-quarter hack, race here recently, and it would be no surprise to see her run out a mile and ahalf well-
Crucinella is said to be galloping well at Waverley, where Auratus is being kept in steady work.
