NORTH SHORE YACHT CLUB.
The North Shore Yacht Club held a general handicap over a 13-knot course on Saturday, the prizes being a cup presented by Mr. J. Dunning, and a trophy donated by Mr. W. J. Bray, second, third, fourth, and fifth prizes taking the shape of trophies donated
by Messrs. Read Brothers, S. G. Vaile, H. Hill, and “a friend” respectively. The entries and handicaps were as follows: —Rangitira, scratch; Thistle, 6m.; Ronaki, 7m.; Calypso, 7m.; Miro, 9m,; Mystery, 13 %m.; Glady, 13 %- m.; Geisha, 15m.; Ranee, 20m.; Waitangi, 20m.; Mowai, 22m.; Encounter, 22m-; Kaho, 23m.; Tangaroa, 24m.; Hetty, 2 7m.; Hilda, 27.; Mayo, 32m.; Freda, 33m.; Welcome Jack, 35m.; Eileen, 38m.; Merlin, 41m.; Daphne, 50m.; Fleetwing, 50m.; Sceptre, 50m.; Flattie, 60m.; Mavoureen, 65m-; Elf, 68m. All started with the exception of Ronaki, Fleetwing, Sceptre, Flattie, and Elf. While most of the yacht’s completed the first round of the course, only 12 of them sailed round the second time. The finishing times were as follows: — Thistle, 4h. 59m. 5 25.; Rangitira, sh. sm. 195.; Miro, sh. 6m. 595.; Mystery, sh. 12m. 35.; Geisha,- sh. 12m. 205.; Ranee, sh. 13m. 155.; Kaho. sh. 17m. 125.; Tangaroa, sh. 20m. 335.; Hilda, sh. 25m. 475.; Mayo, sh. 32m. 195.; Freda, sh. 33m. 205.; Merlin, sh. 37m. 30s. On time allowance Ranee is first, Thistle second, Kaho third, Merlin fourth, and Tangaroa fifth. Mr. Walter Sinton officiated as starter and judge, and Mr. S. White as timekeeper.
