THE ANNIVERSARY REGATTA.

The Anniversary Regatta, which was inaugurated so far back as 18 40 will take place on Friday, January 29. For this a. good programme has been mapped out. the principal events of which are as follows:—-Trading vessels over 25 tons, value of prizes varying according to the number of entries; Trading vessels under 25 tons; Trading cutters; Open Yacht Race; Bona-fide cruising yachts; llan-decked centreboard yachts, restricted class 26ft. 0.a.; yachts not exceeding 25ft. i.w.l. Yachts over 24ft and not exceeding 30ft; decked or half-decked yachts not exceeding 24ft. 0.a.; ditto, 22ft. 0.a.; yachts 24 ft. o.a. (keel). Fishing boats 26ft. and under (sails and motor); Motor launches under 8 knots; Motor launches under 7 knots; Motor launches, all comers; Partiki Race. Besides these there will be numerous pulling races and aquatic sports etc. Entries close with Mr. C. C. Dacre, to-morrow evening. The Union Company have placed their fine island steamer Atua at the disposal of the committee and she wiil act as flagship. After the regatta is over the Atua will go for a short cruise down the harbour. A very large entry is confidently anticipated.
