TRAINING NOTES.

ELLERSLIE. TUESDAY. Being a fine morning a lot of useful work was' got through by the T.J.C. candidates. Lord Seaton swung round the sand in 2m. 10s. Pohutu did a like task in 2m. 2 3-ss. Landlock, over the same track, gave Kotiti a six lengths’ beating in 2m. Is. Gold Crown shaped nicely for five furlongs in Im. 6 3-ss. Coromandel slipped over half a mile on the tan in 555. Kapuranga, all out, left five furlongs behind in lm. 6 4-ss. Silent, in company with a pony, ran half a mile in 535. ■ First Gun was in front of Epsom Lass over nine furlongs in 2m. 4 4-ss. on the sand. Manapouri and Dainty galloped a strong six furlongs. Leonator did a round at three-quarter-pace on the tan. Dunborve and Star Rose had Advocate beaten off at the end of a mile on the grass in lm. 55 2-ss. Carmania galloped six furlongs, Carlyle assisting the last five furlongs, in lm. 17 4-ss. on the sand. Mentira did a similar gallop on the grass in lm. 22 3-ss. Hyperian and another had a three-furlong burst in 38s. Master Delaval and Master Soult, looking a bit light after their Southern tour, did gentle work on the tan. Hard Rock, Bully, and others worked. After breakfast Escamillo and Explosive had a tussle from the fivefurlong mark, finishing together in lm. 6 3-ss. on the sand. Miss Advance sprinted half a mile on the grass in 51s. San Paulo galloped a circle on the tan in 2m. 2s. Tarina and Waihuku left Lord Crispin behind in a fast-run four furlongs on the grass in 50 2-ss. Luscombe outpaced and outstayed two others twice round the tan. Etna scampered over three furlongs on the grass in 37 3-ss. Sea Elf knocked 3-ss. off this. Lady Frances, looking well, did half-pace work on the tan. Effulgence spurted four furlongs in 51 3-ss. on the grass. Lochbuie, looking well, did three-quar-ter-pace work on the tan. Cyrano had Rimlock settled in a circle on the grass in lm. 56 4-ss. Snowfoot was in front of Talepitcher at the end of a three-furlong flutter in 395. on the tan. Lucio, alone, sprinted three furlongs on the tan. A number of others did useful work. Frevata (by Freedom) has gone into P. Conway’s stable. The gelding has won races round the Waikato. SATURDAY. Saturday being fine, a lot of useful work was got through (the reverse way) on the grass track at Ellerslie. Lord Seaton, with weight in the saddle, finished up seven furlongs in lm. 36 2-ss. Guidwife, making a big noise, sprinted two furlongs twice. The big chestnut does not improve much. Macmanemin’s numerous string mostly spurted in couples, but Etna, alone, fluttered three furlongs in 38s. Rarata also put in a pleasing performance in a five-furlong flutter in lm. 5 3-ss. Absolum’s team was content with pacing and cantering. Coromandel left three-quarters of a mile behind in lm. 21 3-ss. Pohutu bolted away from the ancient Land-

lock in a circle in the good time of Im. 525. Star Rose and Dunborve finished together in front of Advocate over nine furlongs in Im. 57 4-ss. Manapouri, with Mark Ryan in the saddle, acquitted himself with credit over six furlongs in Im. 22 2-ss, but could have improved the time. Dainty and the two-year-old Hyperian brushed over three furlongs in 41 3-ss'. Epsom Lass and another completed six furlongs in Im. 235., with little to choose between the pair. After breakfast interval Master Crispin galloped a round in 2m. 9s. Lucio sprinted half a mile in 52 3-ss. Haldane, galloped rather stilty over nine furlongs in 2m. 6 3-ss. . Lady Frances, looking well, alone, had a credit of Im. 6 3-ss. for five furlongs. Mark Time, Darkness, Carmania, Talepitcher, Lochbuie, Leonator, Rimlock, Snowfoot, Sea Elf and a number of others did useful tasks. Waihuku proved too good for San Paulo in a round over the sma'l sticks in Im. 53 3-ss. Although the latter cut off the corners he had no chance with his big rival.
