SALE OF ELDERSLIE YEARLINGS.
The sale of yearlings on behalf of Messrs. J. B. Reid (Elderslie) and J. Reid (Burnside, Oamaru) took place last Friday. The youngsters, who are by Stepniak, St. Ambrose, and Martian, were brought into the ring in the best of condition, but the sale was' only fairly well attended. The bidding was anything but spirited. The best price obtained was for a Martian-Neva colt, which was purchased by Mr. G. D. Greenwood for 600 guineas. Following were the details of the sale: — On account of Mr. J. B. Brett, 200 guineas. Brown filly, St. Ambrose —Fanna, Mr. W. Pine, 65 guineas. Bay filly, St. Ambrose —Janet, passed in. Bay colt, St. Ambrose —St. Regie, Mr. T. H. Lowry, 450 guineas. Chestnut filly, St. Ambrose —Savannah, Mr. J. Brett, 150 guineas. Brown filly, St. Ambrose —Cissy, passed in. Brown colt, St. Ambrose —Marlin, Mr. Tancred, 300 guineas.
