POVERTY BAY TURF CLUB’S SPRING MEETING.
The Poverty Bay Turf Club opened its spr’ng meeting on Thursday. The weather was perfect and the attendance large. The following were the results: — TRIAL HANDICAP, six furlongs.— Placa 1, Eiga 2, Mungamotio 3. Time, lm. 19s. FIRST HURDLE RACE, one mile and three-quarters.—Reservoir 1, Ruabon 2. Time, 3m. 41s. FIRST COUNTY STAKES, six furlongs.—StyVsh 1, Lloyd’s 2, Gatenby 3. Time, lm. 21s. SPRING HANDICAP, one mile and a--quarter.—Douche 1, Auldearn 2, Hinetitama 3. Time, 2m. 13%5. FIRST WELTER HANDICAP, seven furlongs.—Shanks 1, Ballyheigh 2, Nadine 3. Time, lm. 35%5. MAIDEN SCURRY, four furlongs,— Ardfert 1, Goldwin 2, Inez 3. Time, 53 l-ss. FLYING HANDICAP, six furlongs.— Andrew Mack 1, Tarina 2, Stylish 3. Time. lm. 17 l-ss. FIRST HACK FLAT RACE, one mile. —Dardanus 1, Spate 2, Pearl 3. Time, lm. 44 l-ss, SECOND DAY. The meeting was concluded on Friday in fine weather and before a large crowd. Twelve bookmakers were licensed and £5286 was put through the totalisator for the day, making a total of £10,389 for the meeting, as against £15,790 last year. The results of the racing were as follow:— WELTER HANDICAP, one mile.— Nadine, 8.7, 1; Te Rai, 10.4, 2; Thanks, 10.2, 3. There were six starters. Won by two lengths. Time, lm. 48 4-ss. HURDLE HANDICAP, one mile and a-half. —Reservoir 1, Ruabon 2, Morpeth 3, These were the only starters. Won easily. Time, 3m. 0 4-ss. COUNTY STAKES, one mile.—Spate 1, Paisand 2, Nadine 3. Won by three lengths. Time, lm. 46 l-ss. MAKARAKA HANDICAP, one mile.— Dardanus 1, H’netitama 2, Auldearn 3. Also started: Lady Rohina and Stylish. Won by half a length. Time, lm. 47 l-ss. HACK HANDICAP. —Miss Advance 1, Pearl Reef 2, Mistime 3. Won by three lengths. Time, lm. 20 2-ss. MAIDEN SCURRY, five furlongs.— Munga Motio 1, Waikanae 2, Kaikakaro 3. Won by 10 lengths. Time, lm. 6s. WAIKANAE HANDICAP, five furlongs.—Tarina 1, Andrew Mack 2. Won by three-parts of a length. Time, lm. ss. FAREWELL HANDICAP, seven furlongs.—Bally Heigh 1, Hinetitama 2, Pluck 3. Won easily. Time, Im. 33 l-ss.
