HAWKE’S BAY.

NAPIER, June 10.

At a meeting of the Hawke’s Bay metropolitan committee yesterday it was resolved to forward an application for the registration of a racing club at Nuhaka to the New Zealand Conference with a recommendation to grant the request. The sum of £3 and medical expenses were recommended to be paid from the accident fund to J. O’Brien. It was decided to recommend the Conference to cancel the registration of the Kumeroa Racing Club. The programme of the Hawke’s Bay Hunt Club’s Steeplechase Meeting, on July 29th, was approved. It was decided to suspend the licenses of two jockeys who were recently convicted in the Magistrate’s Court. The dates for race meetings in 1908-09 were approved. The Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club also met yesterday. An interim statement was submitted showing a surplus of £lO4l for the autumn meeting. A letter was received stating that the vice-regal party would attend the steeplechase meeting. Mr and Mrs G. P. Donnelly leave for Sydney next Thursday. Perhaps, the two-year-old full sister to Probable and Prize Bloom, has been registered as the joint property of Messrs J. C. McVay and R. Gooseman. This confederacy, when racing Brennan and Illustrious, had a pleasant period, and if the aptly-named daughter of Possible shows out in as good a light as her relatives, profitable business should result to the firm when the filly is set going on her missions in the racing arena.

The excellent nominations received by the Napier Park Racing Club for their winter venture augurs well for a successful reunion on the 2 4th ant 25 th.

Kaipetipeti is still on the sick list and his prospects of being seen out under silk at the local gatherings this month do not appear to be too rosy.

Post Haste put up an attractive display over the big country at Hastings on Saturday morning. Mr T. White, the owner of Turquet, is putting into work the Musketry gelding that he purchased from Mr Gaisford some time back.

King’s Lynn has joined C. Lagor’s band of workers.

Fred Stowe has broken in the rising two-year-old full sister to Moriarty and Little Mary that a client of his purchased last month, when Mr E. J. Watt disposed of some of his going stock. Oakbourne, another of Stowe’s pupils, has been laid aside lately suffering from a poisoned leg, which has given his trainer no end of worry. Luckily he is now on the mend and with good luck on his side,

Waiuku’s son may possibly put in an appearabce at Napier Park. T. Quinlivan has strengthened his scholars by the addition of Wimmera. When he can obtain more accommodation he is taking over another horse from E. J. Watt. Wimmera, who is a younger full brother to Boomerang, is an exceedingly nice cut of a colt.

Bally Shannon and King’s Lynn’s full brother, a couple of two-year-olds in T. Quinlivan junior’s stable, are in a bad way, suffering from a severe attack of the strangles. Another addition to the Hurdling Brigade, made his debut over the battens at Hastings this morning. I refer to Gazeley, who in'his maiden effort showed himself an adept in his negotiation of the obstacles.

Pushful still continues to give satisfaction in his essays over the ’chasing fences, a remark which also applies to Faro —Golden Gate. A stable comrade of Lamsdorf and Earl King is fast being knocked into shape by J. Quinlivan, and judging by the way he moved yesterday, he has not apparently forgotten the way to handle himself.

Whakawehi is improving in his fencing and should be heard of to advantage before many more moons have passed.
