A Westralian exchange, in referring to the victory of R. Ramage on Little Mary in the Rockingham Stakes at the recent May Meeting of the W.A. T.C., drew attention to the fact that Ramage was not the only rider of a Melbourne Cup winner seen in the saddle during the afternoon. The other was H. Gardiner, who piloted Newhaven to victory in 1896, six years after Ramage had landed Carbine a winner.

There are still some bookmakers prepared to bet to a fair amount in England. A London exchange mentions that last month £B5OO was offered in one hand against, the French colt Sea Sick 11., who is one of the fancied candidates for the Derby.
