A CLEVER VIOLINIST.

Max Schluter, Danish violinist, has began a short series of concerts at the Melbourne Town Hall. This artist visited Melbourne some few years ago (says Melbourne “Punch”), but since that time he has developed into an artist of rare ability, and his work compares more favourably with that of previous artists visiting our shores. He has a broad, rich, warm, cantabile tone, unswerving accuracy, and immense technique; in a word, he upholds the best traditions of the Belgian school. Into his: work he infuses much life and spirit, and his interpretative methods are not at all lacking in dignity and grace.

Mr Frohman has offered Mr Seymour Hicks and his wife, Miss Elaline Terriss a twenty weeks’ season with “The Gordons” in America. They are to finish their Aldwych season, and after their autumn tour they are to sail with “The Gay Gordons” in December, opening at the Knickerbocker Theatre during Christmas week. *• * * * Phil Newburv with his wife and Mr Sydney Scott, an English organist, wilt give the first of a short series of concerts at the Sydney Town Hall on 4th April. The tenor will afterwards visit Victoria, Queensland. South Australia, West Australia and New Zealand.
