THE ENGLISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP.

The competitions for qua ifications to play in the forthcoming amateur championship in London are being played with much determination in the various countries, cities, etc. In Dublin there are eight entries for the Irish Amateur Championship, and the winner will then play the present holder, Mr. J. Nugent, to see which will go across to London to compete for the big title. The entries are: —J. C. Burns, J. H. Jones, W. Dixon, J. M. Meldon, L. Farrington, C. P. Coote, A. T. Marsh and J. Collie. Mr. Marsh is looked upon to come out victorious, only to be defeated by the holder, Mr. J. Nugent.
