MAGGIE WINS THE “SMALL SCOWS’ ” RACE.

On Saturday was sailed off the race for trading vessels under 25 tons, originally on the programme of the Anniversary regatta. The entries were:—Edna, scratch; Pukapuka, 15m.; Maggie, 59m.; Tuahine, 77m. Edna just led Maggie at the Rangitoto mark, and the latter boat was st'll hanging on at rhe Ohe’.se.i mark, being then only 2Hni. behind the scratch boat. Edna could get av/ay very little from Maggie in the second round, and never had the £ aintest chance of giving away the rather absurd handicap. The finishing times were: Edna,- 4h. <«)m. Os ; Maggie. 4h. 44m. 55.; Pukapuka, sh. 7m. 255. On time allowance Maggie von very easily by 35 minutes from Pukapuka, which heat Edna by 18 minutes. Tuahine was not timed, being right out of • he race.
