AUCKLAND ROWING ASSOCIA= TION’S REGATTA AND PICNIC.
A particularly pleasant outing was the third annual p cnic and trial fours organised by the Auckland Rowing Association. It took p ace on Saturday at Orakei and was attended by quite 2000 spectators. Considering that no Jess than twenty-five events had to be decided it was wonderful that everything was got off to the minute and his spoke well for
the organising powers of Mr W. Benjamin, the secretary, and his committee. Mr N. Wade was starter and umpire, and Mr B. S. Finn, judge. Each of the rowing clubs held a series of Trial Fours and then the winners of the finals were matched against each other, the West End R.C. crew proving the champion. The results were as follows:— Auckland Rowing Club: Final Heat— Murray’s crew, 1. Won by a
length. The crew consisted of C. Murray, C. R. Watson, R. Wilson, and J. A. Stannaway. West End Club : Final Heat— Mark’s crew, 1. Won by a length. The winners were L. Marks, E. Hennely, A. Bennet', and M. Murpny. Waitemata Boa'ing Club: Final heat—Andrew’s crew (A. Andrews, W. Anderson, H. Menzies, and J. McLeod), 1.
St. George’s Club : Final heat —R. Donkin’s crew (Donkin, A. H. Gyllies, H. F. Twigden, and W. Woodroffe), 1. Nor.h Shore Club: Final heat —- Logan’s crew (Logan, F. B. Burgess, C. Dunsford, and E. C ark, 1. Three crews competed. Association Fours: West End (Marks, stroke), 1 ; Wa’temata (Andrews, stroke), 21 North Shore, 3. Five competed.
