FOOTBALL.

The New Zealand team in England has suffered yet another loss, Warrington winning by 8 points to 7. * • * * * The New Zealanders’ record to date is as follows:—Played 22, won 13, lost 7, drawn 2, points for 293, against 168. The remaining list of fixtures is as follows: — December 25—Hunslet. December 28—Salford. January I—Wales. January 4—Kingston Rovers. January B—Cumberland (at Workington). January 11—England (at Wigan). January 18—Lancashire (at Oldham). January 25 —Northern Union (at Leeds) The Australian Rugby League will send a team to England next season to play a series of matches against the Northern Rugby Union. Writing from England Mr. Gleeson, now with the New Zealand team, says:—“Professionalism is extending through Wales, and, I think, Swansea and Cardiff will be playing professional football next year. In the nine matches played so far we have far exceeded the takings of the last team. We expect tremendous gates at Wigan Oldham, and Hunslet (December 26). After next week it will be all profits, as expenses are now all paid. We will probably play three test matches —one in Leicester (which has also revolted against the amateur code), one in Wales, and one in London. I honestly think this tour will realise £lO,OOO profit.” This does not bear out the predictions of the pessimists, who foretold certain disaster.
