BOWLING.

Two very even games were played in the first round of the Auckland Club championship between McDougal and Coombes. The latter won the first by 22 to 15, but McDougal reversed the figures next time by nearly the same number. In the final the Scotchman fell off, Coombes romping in by 29 to 7.

I notice the “ Herald” gave the incorrect score of a championship game between Crowhurst and Black, which made the former only appear to have made 2 instead of 22. The “Observer” writer fell headlong into the same error, stating that Black had made mincemeat of his opponent. As a matter of fact Crowhurst had 17 to his opponent’s 5 at the eleventh head in the game in question. * * * * The N.B.A. Tournament is the topic of the hour in bowling circles, and with fine weather a great success is prophesied. It is not at all improbable that it may be the last played in Auckland. * * * * Mr. Mentiplay, secretary of the N.8.A., will not be able to come North for the tournament owing to pressure of business. * * * * The Hamilton Bowling Tournament takes place on December 26 and 27. Several Aucklanders are going up to the Waikato capital to try their luck.
