Te Kainui, Snowstell and No Shot to Compete at Horowhenua—King's Lynn Sold—Neagle Retires from Racing'—Percy Johnston Starts as a Trainer on His Own—Latest Regarding Whitehouse—Jack Pot—Ney— Douglas Takes Needlework and Merriwai to Sydney. K NAPIER, September 11. Te Kainui (C. McGregor), Snowshell (Bromley) and No Shot (Lawry) were entrained this morning from Hastings for Levin, the two are engaged at the Horowhenua Meeting this week. Mr. H. Neagle, of Hastings, has sold K'ng’s Lynn to Mr. J. McKay. Golden Salt and Erl King, who are also the property of Mr. Neagle, are under offer, it being that sport’s intention to retire from racing. Percy Johnston has started training on his own account, his present team consisting of Te Uira and a two-year-old filly by Eton out of Kilmorey, whom he has leased from his late employer, Mr. G. P. Donnelly. The Eton filly is a beautiful sample, by the thoroughbred whom it would indeed be hard to find fault; presuming she is as good as she looks,' Johnston ought to have a profitable period ahead of him with this filly, who is a half-sister to Kilmarnock, Kilderkin and Cyrenemore. Johnson has his horses quartered at Harry Moore’s establishment at Hastings. Latest advices received regarding Fred Whitehouse, who got injured through Bulworth falling with him at Marton last Thursday, are that he is suffernig from a bruised liver, besides being badly shaken. Wh : tehou,se’s many admirers and well-wishers will, I am sure, join with me in wishing him a speedy recovery. Jack Pot is being hacked about, his infirm understanding still looks very unsightly. Ney, who scored for Mr. J. George, in the final scurry at Marton last week, is a son of Inamorata (Torpedo—Lady’s Maid),, who was bred at Te Mahanga Station. Mahutonga’s dam, Maude, will form one of St. Ambrose’s harem this term. Mr. A. F. Douglas leaves with Needlework and Merriwai for Wellington en route to Sydney on Thursday morning. J. Cameron and John O’Connell will accompany the gee-gees, the former to prepare them for their tasks, O’Connell to pilot them. During Cameron’s absence the wants and requirements by the balance of his team will be attended to by J. Plummer.
