BOWLING.

Bowlers should not overlook the Rotorua tournament. Owing to a rumour that the -sanatorium' greens are very bare, some of the city bowlers are fighting rather shy of entering, but the Rotorua Club can be relied upon to use every effort to have everything in apple-pie order for the games. I hope to hear of a good many teams going up from Auckland. Rink entries are due to-day, but pairs may be entered for on the ground. On the Carlton green the annual match between married and single took place, the former winning by 80 to 67. * * * * Rocky Nook sent a team (Rathbone, Ellisdon, Butler and Bouskill )to Carlton to have a try for the Edwin Stars. They very nearly got them, too, losing by a single point to the holders. The finish was very exciting, the scores reading 23 to 22 in favour of Austin’s team. M. Walker is a very promising first year player at Ponsonby, and he plays a good, all-round game. Osmond took a Ponsonby team to the Auckland green on Saturday, but the westerners didn’t get on very well, Ledingham’s four defeating them by 32 to 19. • • •» • On the Auckland green Brookes has beaten Easton in the championship by 24 to 10, 14 to 20, and 19 to 12. * * * * Mount Albert had a three-rink interclub match with Auckland, the result being extraordinarily close, as will be seen by the following scores: — Mount Albert —McNaughton, Wilson, Coyle, M. McLean (skip)—l4, v. Auckland —Forster, Mewburn, Brookes Thomas (skip)—26. Mount Albert —Jenkins, Wright, Garlick, Woodhead (skip)—2l, v. Auckland — Craig, ' Coldicutt. G Buddle, Oliphant (skip)—2o. Mount Albert team, Ashton (skip), 24, v. Auckland —Littler, Eversleigh, McDougall, B. Buttle (skip) —14. Aggregate: Auckland, 60; Mount Albert, 59.

B. Buttle’s team, it is said, got lost on their way to Mount Albert, and had been given up by the local men when they put in an appearance about afternoon tea time. Changing trains at Newmarket was the cause of the mishap, the party finding themselves en route for Otahuhu.

Devonport defeated Onehunga in an inter-club match on their own ground on Saturday by 88 to 78, winning on three rinks. The boards at the finish read: —

Devonport — Armstrong, Bennett, Kirkby, Harrison (skip)—22, v. Onehunga—George, Wynyard, Appleby, Mclntosh (skip)—2l. Devonport—Erickson, R. McCallub, Warner, Gardner (skip)—24, v. FJirst-year Players.—Onehunga, 28, v. Devonport, 16.

At Onehunga Devonport held their own, winning on two rinks out of three, the scores being:— Onehunga—D. Neilson, R. T. Michaels, H. J. Davies, E. Clarke (skip) —l4, v.
