AFTER THE RACES.

WELLINGTON RACING CLUB’S SUMMER MEETING.

FIRST DAY. The Wellington R.C. had splendid weather for the first day of the summer meeting, the result being that a very large number made the journey out to Trentham. Indeed, it is estimated that there was a larger attendance than at the inaugural meeting. The chief event, the Cup, resulted in a victory for Achilles, who led all the way and won rather easily. Munjeet had a fairly easy win in the Telegraph Handicap, despite her heavy weight. Both horses were heartily cheered on returning to scale. ’ There, was some lively betting, the tote figures running to £25,255, a record for the club. Mr. Whyte had everything in good trim, and matters passed off very smoothly. The results were as follows: — TRENTHAM HACK HURDLE - RACE. One mile and three-quarters. Mr. A.
