SPORTS AND PASTIMES.

BILLIARDS.

(By “

Pyramid.”)

[The writer of this column will be glad to answer any questions on the imme.]

Visitors to Whangarei who are fond of a quiet game of billiards, should drop into the Coffee Palace billiard sal loon, which they will find a thoroughly up-to-date room, fitted with two first-class tables, both of which are always kept in excellent order. Proprietor S. Calkin is always on hand to attend to the wishes of patrons.

In keeping with the general luxuriance of the appointments of the Pacific Club rooms, the standard of excellence has been maintained in the billiard room. The table is equal to anything we have seen in Auckland, and is of the well-known local make of Barton- Makgill and Co. This firm has established a name for the splendid all-round excellence >of their work, and the table they have just completed to the order of the Pacific Club patrons is no exception to the rule. It is particularly massive, the wood used being of the well-known blackwood variety.
