TRAINING NOTES.

ELLERSLIE. THURSDAY. Nearly all the work was done on the sand track. Lady Nannie defeated Necktie and Lady Cressy over 5 furlongs in lusecs. Delania had a slight advantage over Scotty in a circle in 1.59 i-ssecs. Sonoma and Sir Hector finished together from the 6 furlongs mark on the tan in i.iBsecs., the latter pulled up lame. Pearl Neklet was in front of Dolores over a mile in i.4sses. on the same track. Apologue and Leonator had a sprinting

match over 5 furlongs, the colt finished in frona in 1.3 4-ssecs. The Middy, who is improving, beat a stable mate over 4 furlongs on the tan in 5° 2_ s secs * Waitate finished well in front of Gladstone, sprinting the 5 furlongs in 1.3 4-gsecs. Te Aroha also put in a sharp sprint of 4 furlongs in 50 4-ssecs. Lady Hune got round the tan in 1.59 z-gsecs., while Leo took 2 mins, for the same task. Omati left 4 furlongs behind in 50 3-gsecs. Landlock finished up 5 furlongs in 1.4 secs. Kilderkin (with Billflower over the last 4 furlongs) completed the 6. furlongs in 1.20 2-gsecs. Conductor slipped over 4 furlongs in 5 1 i - s secs > whilst Frontino took 54 3-gsecs for the same distance. Lord Seaton, Celtic, Foremost, Carl Rosa, Sweet Alice, Geordie, Master Delaval, Brigham, Duart, Silicia, Metallist, Cuiragno, and Puhipuhi also worked. After breakfast, Ben Johnson skipped over 5 furlongs in 1.4 3-gsecs with apparent ease. Norana was again too good for Waipa in a 4 furlong flutter in 52 2-5 secs. Stenning’s two well developed two-year-olds spurted in company, but are still backward. Nervine was Trepoff’s master for 5 furlongs in 1.6 2-gsecs. SATURDAY. The course was open and the sting being taken out of the ground after the recent beneficial rains, a lot of good work was got through. Lady Nannie was again the early bird, and fluttered over 2 furlongs in 26secs (and subsequently won the October Handicap later in the afternoon). Foremost and a mate casing up at the finish left 4 furlongs behind in 54 2-gsecs. Scotty jumped off at the mile post and spurted home. Delania jumped off from the 5 furlongs post and moved nicely. Pearl Necklet and Lady Francis had a tussle for 7 furlongs in lessees. Apologue and Leonator put in a solid circle, finishing up in the good time of 2.3 4-ssecs, there was little to choose between the pair. Lady Cressy left a gap between herself and Frontino for 4 furlongs in 53 2~ssecs. Duart put up a like performance in 2-sth of a second better time. Landlock and Sweet Alice in company finished nicely over 6 furlongs in 1.20 3-5 secs. Carl Rosa did a like task in 1.21 secs. Bonomiana and The Middy had a 4 furlong bout on the tan in 50 3~ssecsj Omati alone finished up strongly for half a-mile in 51 i-gsecs. Master Delaval was in front of Geordie at the end of 9 furlongs in 2.5 4~ssecs. The stable mates Lucrece and Lucio not looking for time ran half a mile in 54 4-ssecs. Soul fish was all out in i.24secs. for threequarters of a mile. Necktie, Sonoma, Kiatere, Trepoff and others also worked. After breakfast, J. B. Williamson’s two-year-olds Carmania and Failthe spurted over a short course. Colleen Dhas gave a six lengths beating to Fretwork over threequarter of a mile in 1.24 secs. The Pansy gelding Rayneshot sprinted 3 furlongs in 43 Nervine was once again in front of Waipa for half-a-mile in gosecs, easing up. Ben Johnson put a most attractive 7 furlongs (finishing strongly) in 1.33 2-ssecs. Pylades was well ahead of Discoverer with a credit of 53secs for 4 furlongs. Apologue and Landlock rattled off 6 furlongs on the sand in 1.17 I_ s secs - Carl Rosa, who moved nicely, got to the end of 7 furlongs on the course in i-35secs, all out. Gladstone and Swagsman, the former in front, completed a circuit on the tan in i. 59 3-ssecs. Kilderkin and two stable mates slipped away from the 7 furlongs on the course in i.36sec. Glenullen, with a big lead of Volume, did the same distance in 2secs more. Omati had a slight advantage of the handsome Sweet Alice in a 5 furlong flutter in 1.2 4~ssecs on the sand. Conductor, from a standing start, fluttered over 4 furlongs in 51 i-ssecs. Delania led Scotty most of the way for a mile and a furlong in i-57 3-ssecss on the sand. The Middy, Bonomiana, and Intombe made a good battle for 6 furlongs on the sand in i.iSsecs. Most of Macmanamin’s team were content with half pace work. Cannonagte, Kaitere, Leo, Soultstone, Metallist, Lucio, Lucrece, were not bustled. Master Deleval, Geordie and Waipuna jumped off at the 6 furlong post on the tan and finished in this order in i.ipsecs. Williamson’s team, Coleen Dhas, Carmania, Failthe, and another did useful work. After breakfast, Kola Nip sprinted 4 furlongs on the sand in- 53 3-ssecs. Mahutu did one mile alone on-the sand in i-57secs. Pylades skipped over 5 furlongs on the tan in 1.3 2-sscecs. Ben Johnson on the same track got to the end of 7 furlongs in Waitate alone galloped the last 4 of 6 furlongs in 52 25secs. Baltimore galloped round the sand track in 2.0 i~ssecs. Lady Annie spurted 4 furlongs on the tan. Discoverer ran home strongly from the 5 furlong post on the course. Maheno did an attractive sprint in company with Lady Olive. Heywood and Soultfish finished in front of Tahae in a jumping bout over the hurdles. Loch Erne did two useful rounds on the sand. Matura held Nervine and Philosopher for five furlongs in i.gsecs. Frederick spurted 4 furlongs in 52 2-ssecs. on the tan. Norana, not all out, hopped away from the 6 furlong post and finished the last four in 55 3-5 secs.
