CHORAL HALL.

MR. ANDREW BLACK’S CONCERTS. Mr. Andrew Black gave the second of the series of concerts at the Choral Hall on Thursday evening, when, owing to the bad weather, the attendance was only fair. His songs were Schumann’s “Two, Grenadiers,” a splendidly-given rendering of the “Marseillaise,” Jansen’s “0 Let Thy Tears,” Korbay’s “See Thy Horse’s Foaming Mane,” Schubert’s “The Erl King,” a very masterly performance, “Werner’s Farewell,” “Ho, Jolly Jenkin,” and “Simon the Cellarer,” while as a final encore Hatton’s “To Anthea” was given with great feeling. Herr Adolphe Borsche pleased greatly with his pianoforte selections, while the violin solos by Miss Ethel Sinclair were much appreciated. The third concert of the series took place on Friday, Mr. Black fairly delighting his audience, and encores were many. His contributions were “Honour and Arms,” “It Was a Dream,” “When Thy Blue Eyes,” “Gia la Luna,” “Rage, Thou Angry Storm,” and “Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind,” and all were splendidly given. Miss Ethel Sinclair also pleased greatly with her violin solos, while Herr Borsche’s contributions to the programme were greatly enjoyed. Mr. Black gave his final concert on Saturday, the popular baritone singing to a very appreciative audience “Woo Then Thy Snowflakes,” invocation (Chaminade), “Awake, Beloved,” “Oh, Let Thy Tears” (Jensen), “Nazareth” and “The Village Blacksmith.” Encores were the invariable rule throughout the evening. The season, although perhaps not quite such a financial success as was expected, yet was much enjoyed. The company have gone South.
