HER PHOTOGRAPH.
A Jady was left a large sum of money which she would lose if she married. She asked a company to issue a pol’cy guaranteeing to her the
payment of £5OOO if she married. The reply was that the po icy might be issued to-day and the lady might marry to-morrow, and therefore such a contract was not feasib e. Be ng reluctant to refuse business, however, the company asked the lady to send her photograph. After the chairman had inspected it, he passed it round the board, remarking: “I think, gentlemen, we m ght take the risk!” The policy was issued, but never became a c aiim, though premiums were paid for many years.
